Finding And Keeping Action Figure Collectibles
by Vee, under Collectibles
If you have seen the movie the 40 Year Old Virgin, you probably remember that the main character had a huge collection of action figure collectibles. There are probably more people out there that have these than you realize. These can be worth some money, though many will not have a collection worth what was shown in the movie. However, you can start such a collection, or add to the one that you have if you keep a few things in mind. In years to come, you may have something of value on your hands.
One of the biggest problems some have when they want to have a set of action figure collectibles is that they open the package, or they allow the packaging to become damaged in some way. If you are serious about having a valuable collection, you have to keep them in excellent condition. If you take off the packaging, they are not going to be worth nearly what they would be still in that package. Buy two if you think you may be tempted to open up any of your action figure collectibles. Keep one safe and open the other.
If you are a smoker, your action figure collectibles are not going to be worth as much in the long run. You have to find a place to keep them that is safe from the smoke that may be in your home. If you only smoke outside, you won’t have to worry too much, but otherwise, you are going to devalue what you have if exposed to smoke for any length of time. Very few things in your home are going to be airtight enough to keep smoke and even dust from your action figure collectibles, so keep that in mind.
The biggest hurdle in building a truly valuable action figure collection is to know what is going to be valuable in the future and what will not. This is something that you may never know. When someone dies prematurely, and they have their own action figure, they can go up dramatically in value, but that is not always the case. You never know what will be worth a mint and what will be worthless when you are putting together your action figures collectibles sets. All you can really do is guess.
What some do, when building action figure collectibles, is to buy the ones that they think may be worth something in the future, and some that may never go anywhere. That means going out and randomly buying action figures that you may have never heard of or see no immediate value in. The point is that you never really know which items in your action figure collectibles are going to be the one that are worth the most. Collect a huge variety to up your chances of getting at least one with huge potential as an investment.
